Dancers who are currently enrolled in JDA classes are welcome to apply for the Student Teaching Program. If accepted, the dancer will go through training in technique, terminology, and teaching methods. This program is a compilation of the ADTA, PAEC, & IB programs, to ensure our dancers receive the best training. On completion, they will be placed with an appropriate class to assist the instructor. It is a very exciting opportunity, and has various benefits such as:
leadership experience
boosting confidence
learning new skills
practice teaching
introduction to choreography
bonding with different age groups
being able to be a role model
looks amazing on a resume!
In order to become a certified student teacher with JDA, dancers will have to complete a training session. They will be given the Jitterbug Teaching Manual, and will have a corresponding workbook to complete. After they have completed the workbook, they will have the opportunity to assist teaching a class, and then will receive their certificate! Each student teacher will be assigned a class to help with throughout the year, and in recognition for all of their hard work, they will either receive their solo/duet/trio for free, or get a discount on tuition!
We will also be offering free training to become an associate Acro teacher through our certified Acro Dance Teachers Association program!
Please contact Miss Sarah if you are interested!

Miss Coral exemplifies what it means to be a JDA student teacher. She is incredibly kind, patient, and works hard to make sure everyone is included The younger dancers adore her, and she takes time to make genuine connections with all of them. She is comfortable taking point on leading exercises, is extremely reliable, and is always willing to sub in for other classes.
